Let me tell you now about gastronomic events.
Gastronomic events are events around everything that is eaten. They can be large, upscale fairs, wine exhibitions or food competitions.

The organization of these culinary events goes back a very long time. However, it did not have a definite name. Today, all these events are listed and visible. On the other hand, their interest and the way they operate changes according to the country in which they are held. How about a little trip around the world?

Let's start our journey in Europe. In Europe, and particularly in France, many gastronomic events are held to preserve the country's gastronomy and culinary heritage. France is one of the most conservative countries regarding its gastronomy, but other European countries also organize culinary gatherings with the aim of exhibiting their traditional dishes.
As far as private culinary events are concerned, it's a different story. They are usually given by chefs or pastry chefs. Their interest is to offer an event for their clientele or on the contrary to attract a new one. Others prefer to showcase their know-how, such as pastry or bakery professionals.

Let's go to America now. In North America, almost all culinary gatherings resemble food contests. The principle is simple, who will eat the fastest a given amount of food or who will eat the most... With a European vision, I don't think I can say that these are the smartest contests ever organized. On the contrary, we would tend to say that it's really not a good idea if only for health reasons.
In South America, they favor groupings around the sharing of their traditional dishes. Large events based on sharing is organized to preserve their culinary heritage.

Then let's move on to Asia. Asia is not a continent dedicated to gastronomic culture. It has very few chefs, and almost no pastry chefs.
On the other hand, if we go to the Japanese side, you know all the sushi and the others. Being very well known all over the world, the Japanese are regularly trying new innovations. This can be on the level of taste, but also on the level of their presentation. Their restaurants evolve and become places of gastronomic gatherings around sushi. You can find many sushi bars that organize some culinary events on preparation techniques in particular. Indeed, Asia is focusing more on demonstrations of culinary techniques during their events. On the other hand, they host many TV shows on this subject.

You, ladies and gentlemen, have just made an express culinary world tour. I'll leave you here and see you at the next one.
