Still on RED the radio event discovery, let me introduce myself I am Fanny Bastié and we are now going to talk about the importance of logistics in events….

We received lots of messages asking us when we were going to give you guys a exclusively dedicated to the subject that fascinates us all :    LOGISTICS.

I understand the excitement you might have when discovering an Excel table which is 5 pages long, with more than 560 boxes of organization and explanation with a font size of 10 ... so much fun

Moreover, I can understand that the logistics in events doesn't make everyone jump for joy, but I could have told you about accounting. I wouldn't want to alienate the radio accounting department, as it may be of interest of some people, and they are the base grounds of my paycheck.

Logistics are comparable to a company's accounting, these are both shadow professions. These are professions that are rarely highlighted. Rarely has a company made a four-by-three advertising poster claiming the quality of their accounting.

For all the event novices out listening to us, I will give you a quick explanation of what logistics means in events.

The logistics are different depending on the events you want to organize, because it includes everything that will compose your event, going from the schedule to the number of bottles of water that you will have, to table places during a conference. Logistics also makes it possible to calculate the feasibility of an event

Now that we have all the basics, let's get to the heart of the matter in the professional side of logistics, so let's take a Chinese portrait.

So first of all, if we were to compare the logistics to a type of person, we could compare it to the annoying person at the back of the room who asks questions all the time.

Second, if we were to compare it to an insect, it would be a bee, essential for the proper functioning of the ecosystem but which is not very visible.

And finally, if we had to compare it to a fruit, this fruit would be a bunch of grapes, why you may ask, but I will tell you. The bunch of grapes binds together a multitude of grapes that are usually eaten individually, into a branch that unites all of these grapes into a solid cluster. It's the same with logistics; it's going to take everything that makes up an event to make it a unit, allowing the event to run smoothly.

To do logistics you have to be good at certain areas, yes you need specific skills because logistics is not just filling out a table and seeing if the day of the event works. It is therefore necessary to have a sense of organization, to be responsive, to have a spirit of synthesis and to analyze any situation in order to be able to find the most suitable set-up for the event.

Now you know why logistics are essential for events, you can now show off to your friends by teaching them the usefulness of logistics. I also think this is a subject that will be unanimous and interest everyone. And if that does not interest them, then I don’t understand anything as I can’t offer you a more interesting subject.
