Soline Valadon

Good morning everyone, today we are going to tackle a subject that touches both the event industry and Coronavirus. It’s weddings conception. Indeed, the world of weddings was very much affected during this period and it’s still the case today.

To talk more precisely about this problem, there is nothing better than to talk to the first people concerned: the wedding planners. I met one of the trainees from Déborah Defachelle, wedding planner and decorator in Charente Maritime.

Hello Soline, how are you? Today you are here to tell us about your experience with Déborah Defachelle, who has been working in this profession and this passion for 3 years now, tell us a little bit about it!

Hello ! I'm very well, thank you! Yes in fact I worked with her for two months and it's been a few years since she started as a self-employed woman after studying applied art and fashion, today she has her own company.

How did it go for you?

At the beginning it was complicated because in Charente Maritime several service providers are already well established. She not only does the decoration but also the floral arrangements and the coordination of weddings, she has several strings to her bow. She was therefore able to represent a "threat" for her competitors. But today, thanks to the many weddings she had taken care of, she had met service providers who are her friends and collaborators.

How many weddings do she do in a year?

About fifteen. Over this year she had organized eight.

Let's talk about the impact of the health crisis on her work. How did you feel the presence of Coronavirus through her work?

First of all, there are a lot of brides and grooms who have cancelled or postponed their wedding until 2022. Indeed, we have had 8 weddings, that's about 7 less than normal. However, there are still some brides and grooms who wanted to keep their weddings, including their evening.

Let's talk about the impact of the crisis on your profession. How did you feel the presence of Covid through your work?

For the creation, it hasn't changed, during the week we did the decorations and the coordination. We also contacted the service providers. The weekend of the weddings, we carried out the installations of the decoration freely, without masks. We had very little contact with the bride and groom to preserve them, contacts were made only by phone.

During the coordination of the D-day, we put on masks and adapted our outfits. We spent the day with the mask to protect the bride and groom and their guests. However, they did not have any. The number of guests at the weddings was a maximum of 80, but this was hardly respected.

OK, I see! Anyway thank you for answering my questions and for sharing your experience during Covid 19!

D to S: Thank you!
